Our team attended the 30th edition of the Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Reproduction Refresher Course, held as part of the 9th Meeting of the Granada School of Reproduction and Embryology (ESGRE), with Irene Leonés Baños also taking part as a speaker. The scientific event was organised by the Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital.
During the conference, Irene presented a paper entitled ‘Your gut, your mind: how the microbiome regulates mental health in polycystic ovary syndrome’. In her presentation, she explored the critical link between the gut-brain axis and the emotional wellbeing of patients with PCOS, an approach stemming from the research lines and recent publications developed by our working group (doi: 10.1016/j.fertnstert.2025.09.014.).
In addition to the high scientific calibre of the conference, the event featured a moving tribute to Dr José Antonio Castilla Alcalá on the occasion of his retirement; he is a leading figure whose professional career has been, and continues to be, an inspiration to all those working in the field of reproductive medicine.
